Naturally Carbonated Soda

Before soda was carbonated with with CO2 in tanks carbonation came from another source: yeast! Yeast can be found on all sorts of places like grapes or ginger, and in most kitchens it can be found in a little glass jar waiting to be added to bread dough. Those same CO2 bubbles that make your bread bubbly can make your drink bubbly.

All those bubbles can cause trouble, not just fun, if they cause too much pressure in the bottle. If allowed to over-ferment in a closed container the pressure can build up to the point where the bottle EXPLODES. For this reason it is important to make sure that you decide to make soda at home, you do so safely.
